Hey all - just heard about the earthquake. I am hoping everyone is okay. Thinking of you all - but if the worst thing is Jer losing a couple planes, it's all good - though I don't think he'll feel that way when we get home...
This morning, when we went into the room with all the crips to get him, there was most definitely a gleam of recognition - and his face actually seemed to brighten! And when daddy played with him while changing his diaper, he was full of smiles! He is definitely getting used to us.
This afternoon didn't go as well. We took him outside - and since he's been outside more times in the past few days than he has in his entire life, he is still unsure about being in a strange environment. Also, we have been making him work (crawling, standing - which, by the way, he loves, sitting) and I think he was feeling a little overwhelmed. All he wanted to do was roll around in the walker, like he used to. I didn't let him stay in there for long - he needs to get used to us.
That being said, I can already see a difference in him. He is crawling a lot further and exploring more, instead of just studying us. We even managed to get him to sit on his own - instead of leaning back on us like he would in the walker, even if it was only for a short time.
This "saying good-bye" at the end of the day is even harder then I ever imagined! I was in tears when we got back to the apartment - I just want my baby! But, all good things come to those who wait. I've waited this long, I can wait a few more weeks...
I should also say, as hard as it is, I know that he is getting excellent care and being well taken care of - just not as well as I would like, and he certainly isn't getting the one-on-one he needs. But, soon!
morning Jeremy and Deb. We definately felt the earthquake. No damage though just a little shaking of the house. So glad to hear everything is going well. Sounds like your having fun.
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie and Jeremy - I just read your blog for the first time (saw the link on your facebook page as I had been thinking of you).... So glad that you have met the one!! Glad to hear the bonding is going well! It is amazing how fast you'll see improvement! Darya was 11 months when we brought her back to our apartment and she was crawling on her belly... it was until a few weeks after at the apartment that she started crawling on her knees...and from there things happened sooo fast! She was climbing up on furniture, then walked at 14 months at home and now she is running at 16 months and getting up on her own when she falls. You will be amazed at how they catch up!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Karaganda in the summer - I can't wait to hear your good news...
best,
MaryLisa, Murat and Darya
.... oh forgot to ask - is he is room 4 or 5? Darya was from Room 4 at Botakoz..
ReplyDeletekeep well..
MaryLisa
We are all ok...your brother ran into a mezzaine at work during the earthquake and swears that it was caused by the shaking ground, but I think that he is just a crazy driver LOL. Glad to hear Bananahead is doing well and making gains each and every day...the heartbreak at the end of each day sounds like it is going to get worse before it gets better, but know that in a few weeks it will just be a memory.
ReplyDeleteNicholas is still thinking of a new name suggestion for you, since he does not think Debbifer would work for a boy...oh to be 13 again.
Lots of love, Aunt Dee, Uncle Dave and Nicholas xo
Debbie,
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you and Jeremy. Enjoy your time with your son and I look forward to reading your blog every day! Big hugs from your cuz Pam.
