Due to technical difficulties (ie the power being out at the internet cafe), I was unable to post yesterday. But I'm back!
Yesterday, daddy was feeling not so well, and this morning, I had to go to the orphanage on my own because he was so sick. Another mother in the room with us (a couple adopting a little boy in his group, who are from Texas) had streph on Saturday, so I assuming he has the same thing. So, at lunchtime today, I brought our translator with me to the pharmacy to get some antibiotics. Normally, I would NEVER think of taking antibiotics without seeing a doctor, but since we are talking about streph - and even if he's not that serious, it's got to be the same bug, it's too much of a coincidence - there was little choice. I have no idea what they gave me - here's hoping it works! The worst part is, now I'm not feeling so hot. Good thing I got an extra pack of medicine for me! I actually got it in my system before him, and I think it is working - but man, am I wiped! It was a chore to drag myself to the internet cafe this evening.
We have settled into a bit of a routine with the baby - we (well, just me today) feed him, play with him for a little bit and get him moving, then take him outside and play and cuddle for a bit back inside before it's time to go. He was the same today. And I have no idea if he noticed daddy was missing - but he sure was saying "da da da da" this afternoon! Considering it's the only audible noise he makes, it's hard to say what that means.
Glad to hear from you...really missed you yesterday.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear Jer is sick. If it is strep, have him gargle with some salt water, I know it is nasty but it will kill the germs in his throat. As for the antibiotics, as long as it is not Viagra, it should help (sorry Jer, could not help it).
Take care of yourselves. We love you.
We were a little concerned when you did not blog yesterday(you know Mom). We hope Jeremy is feeling better and you are OK too. Sounds like your bonding is going well. You 2 are certainly going to make a difference in his(name???) life. We dont want to keep calling him Mr. Banana Head hehe Cant wait to hear from you tomorrow Love To All 3 of you...
ReplyDeleteSorry to here Jer is sick, hope all is ok tell him to lay off the Vodka!
ReplyDeleteSounds like all is going well otherwise, i'm sure Jer will mend quickly and you will both be with the little one again.
Take care
Hi Debbie and Jeremy,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that you're both not feeling well. When we were there this past winter, most of the families were sick. We also took the same antibiotics based on similar symptoms and I even had to take a second type to clear up my chest infection. Drugs without a prescription, that's the Kazakhstan we know and love.
I'm so glad to hear that you are well on your way into the bonding period, name decision, etc. We also had a similar experience with Ayan-- we met him at 10 months old and taught him to sit, crawl, and stand during our time in Karaganda. Like Darya, Ayan is now running, climbing, getting into drawers and cupboards, and won't sit still. It's an amazing process to go through as you get to enjoy many of your child's "firsts". We felt so fortunate to experience Ayan's first time crawling, seeing his second tooth cut through, etc.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Enjoy all the "firsts" with Mr. Cuddles and cherish your experiences in Kazakhstan. The time will pass before you know it and you'll remember this journey forever.
Best wishes and I look forward to reading more updates,
Tracie
